The EZM-PZM 90, designed and manufactured by Moshe Etzioni, works on the same principle as the PZM microphone, Known as PZM-30GPB made by the American company CROWN.

How does it work?

The PZM microphone unit consists of 2 main elements.

Pressure plate, and microphone Condenser with OMNIDIRECTIONAL reception.

The microphone is placed in the center of the braces.  The plate absorbs the sound waves, transmits them directly to the microphone located at a minimum proximity to the plate, and produces natural amplification and an additional 3dB from the normal state of the microphone Vs. if it were not directed towards the braces.

The idea of the PZM is to amplify a clearer and cleaner sound without the need to amplify high frequencies in a mixer.

In addition, since the microphone is close to the source of the sound waves (the plate), phenomena such as phase reversion do not exist in this microphone.

Moshe Etzioni took this wonderful idea and put it into an absorption facility a bit more upgraded than the original.

  • Multiply the absorption area of CROWN’s original braces, which is twice the size.
  • Bend the braces in the middle at 90 degrees.
  • The assembly of 2 microphones manufactured by Moshe Etzioni EZM-V84-O, which stand at 90 degrees.
  • The placement of the microphones in this way produces an additional 3dB amplification for each microphone and we receive an additional 6dB from the plate.
  • At the end of the day, the two microphones are connected to 2 mixer channels in a full stereo image, and the result is immediately felt.

The EZM-PZM 90 is designed for recordings in both professional and home studios and is highly recommended for live performance enhancement.

Extremely useful for drums, percussion, choirs, string segments and more.

From Etzioni’s experience in operating amplification systems in concert halls and open spaces, one EZM-PZM can absorb and amplify an entire Philharmonic Orchestra by placing it in the center of the stage above the conductor’s head.

Attached is a live recording of 2 drums from a live performance by Matti Caspi. The EZM-PZM microphone is placed over the drummer’s head.
